A silly little epigram inspired by Catullus’ poem 85 to describe a knitter’s relationship with her laces.
Knit knit and purl: you may wonder why I keep making these stitches
Don’t know, but I can feel torments of passion for lace
And a quick picture of my Icarus shawl before I take it on a one week trip to the UK. I am just a few rows away from finishing the required repetitions of chart one and I can’t wait to move on to chart 2. What I have knit so far was very easy and enjoyable. The pattern is quite simple and very is to learn by heart. The simplicity of the shawl’s main part is going to make it very elegant I think. I just bought a new dress to go with it.

I finished my Trekking XXL socks last just in time for this weekend's trip to Hamburg. Since I like keeping my feet warm, I decided to bring my brand new socks. I didn't really need them though, the weather was splendid. Walking around town in my new sandals I kept them in my purse to be on the safe side in case of a sudden change of weather.

While knitting I grew very fond of this colourway (136). When the yarn arrived in the mail I was very disappointed and couldn't understand why I chose this colourway. Now I think it was a very good choice. The sock is knitted over 68 stitches with a set of 5 2 mm dpns. The pattern is a very simple lace pattern: k6 k2tog yo for one round, knit the next and so on. I am sure other people have made similar patterns.

No wonder the stitches end up a little uneven when they are knit under x-treme conditions.

I remain confident that my Icarus shawl won't look too bad after a good blocking.
Yesterday I took a short trek to the local outdoor swimming-pool. After a delightful swim, I spent hours on the grass knitting and chatting with friends. The sock was left in charge of guarding our stuff while we were swimming,

and had a great time admiring the view.

The yarn is Trekking XXL (of course) colour 136.
This is the post where I have to say good bye to my first teammate for The Amazing Lace, the Trellis scarf from Interweave Knits Spring 2006. Our relationship lasted for about four weeks and we both agree that we have enjoyed each other's company. I finished the knitting last night and she spent the night blocking on the floor of my living-room. Here she is hot off the needles:

And here is a shot of the finished Trellis:

Her measurements are 205 cm x 27 cm. I knitted 4 extra pattern repeats for the extra length and I think I used approximately 3/4 of my 210 grams skein of Evilla Art-yarn in colourway A3.
Trellis has spent most of her time in the safety of my home, but a few weeks ago I took her on a train trip. Here she is enjoying the view:

I know I promised Trellis not to start the next lace project before she was done. Well, certain promises are a little hard to keep and the Icarus shawl was just a little too tempting.

Trellis is a little cross with me for not being faithful, but I think she has forgiven me since my knitting Icarus allowed her an extra week in daylight.
When I received the Blue Moon Fiber Arts Rockin' Sock Club kit a couple of weeks ago I have to admit that I wasn't crazy about the Rock and Weave pattern. Luckily I decided to give it a try and now I love my new pair of socks. This kit's colour was Fairground and the yarn is medium weight. I think I prefer BMFA's light weight yarn, the medium weight yarn knits up very fast and is great to work with. To sum up, these socks make my feet happy.
